Outreach Ministries

Neighborhood Supper will be held Friday, October 18th, at 5:15 p.m.   You are also encouraged to come in early to fellowship with the participants.  This month’s meal will be Potato Soup with crackers,  hot dog sandwiches, pineapple chunks, bread & butter, cookies, and beverages.  The following items are needed:  hot dogs & buns, canned potatoes, ketchup, mustard, relish, saltine crackers, pineapple chunks, cookies, punch or punch mix, and napkins.  Please bring your donations to the church kitchen by October 16th.  Thank you!

The personal care items we’ll offer diners at the Neighborhood Supper this month are bars of soaps.  Please leave donations in the basket in the back of the sanctuary.

Salvation Army Food Pantry collection will be Sunday, October 22nd.   Suggested donations: breakfast cereal.  Put your donations in the shopping cart in the back of the sanctuary.

Community Breakfast will be on Saturday, October 26th, from 8:30 – 10:30 a.m.  This community outreach is sponsored by the Men’s Prayer Breakfast group and the UMW’s SKI group.  This breakfast is free and open to all (donations will be accepted). This is a wonderful opportunity to get involved and reach out into our community and build relationships with our neighbors and be fulfilled in sharing the love and grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Come one, come all to help, support or just have breakfast and fellowship. If you have questions, talk to anyone from the Men’s Prayer group or SKI group or specifically Pastor Thérèse, Richard Wallace, Bill Bess or Sue Bess.

Laundry Love Ministry ~ Monday, October 28th, at 4:15 p.m.  at the Southland Cleaning Village, 355 S. Main Street in Marion.  We can always use more volunteers!

Thursday, October 31st,  from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.  ~  Decorate your trunk!  Give out treats to our kids & neighborhood kids! Come for fun!   We could use extra individually wrapped candy.  They can be placed in the Halloween Box on the second floor hallway beginning Sunday, October 6th. Thank you!

Looking ahead!!!  ~  It’s time to start collecting mittens, gloves, socks, and scarves to place on the Christmas tree in the back of the sanctuary beginning November 3rd.  This year, the items will be taken to Leapin’ Outreach in December and given to those who are in need.  It may not be cold while you are reading this, but as we all know, winter comes and many children do not have mittens, gloves, socks, and scarves to keep them warm.

On November 9th, the Guiding Light Circle will host the Annual Local Missions Bazaar from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. in our Fellowship Hall.  There are vendor spaces still available.  Contact Linda Kear, Judy Stambazze, or the church office for vendor registration forms. There will be a variety of vendors for holiday shopping and the kitchen will be open for breakfast and lunch.  Please plan to attend.  All proceeds from the vendor rentals, cheese ball, bake shoppe, and kitchen are distributed to 2-3 Marion County missions/charities.  If you have a recipient for the GLC to consider, please talk to any GLC member – the officers are Linda, Charlene, Judy Stambazze and Laurie Johnson.
